The University of Applied Arts Vienna is inviting its members to submit project proposals in response to the first call for proposals of the programme for the development of Perspectives for Opportunities through Research of Transdisciplinarity (PORT). Its purpose is to promote and strengthen the arts, design, and scholarly disciplines in pursuit of outstanding inter- and transdisciplinarity.
The funding programme aims to enhance the artistic and the scientific fields of the University of Applied Arts Vienna in fostering sustainable inter- and transdisciplinarity. Cooperation between various fields and disciplines, institutes, and departments will be further expanded based on the specific artistic and methodological scopes of the departments. This completely open thematic bottom-up approach allows for the development of new collaborations based on specific artistic and scientific practices and methods, which can serve as a foundation for innovative partnerships with external partners (e.g., for EU projects and collaborations with industry).
The transformation of society has already been a central theme. The funded projects contribute to advancing the methodological development of artistic and scientific processes of knowledge in addressing complex challenges at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
This call is aimed at individuals and teams working in art and/or science at the Angewandte who possess a high level of expertise in their respective fields.

Submission
A time-limited project, described in terms of its objectives and methods. Individuals employed by the Angewandte, as well as groups (teams) whose submitting contact person (i.e. the applicant) is a university employee, are eligible to submit.
Submission for stage 1: by January 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM with the online form base/Cloud app ‚Forms‘ (‚Formulare‘ ).
Submission for stage 2 (by invitation only): by May 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM with the submission form 2025 (DE+EN) at port@uni-ak.ac.at

Angewandte Programme for Inter- and Transdisciplinary Projects in Art and Research (INTRA)
The Angewandte Programme for Inter- and Transdisciplinary Projects in Art and Research was an internal funding programme of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, announced five times between 2020 and 2024. The funded INTRA projects contribute to the methodological development of artistic and scientific knowledge processes concerning complex challenges at the Angewandte. INTRA enhanced and strengthened the already established conversation culture as well as solidarity and supportive dialogue among researchers and colleagues at the University of Applied Arts.
