Developing opportunities, cycles of new ideas

Project workflow from an idea to a successfully completed project:

  • It always starts with an idea. Ideas, research questions, and project plans are discussed in a first meeting, and implementation and funding options are identified. It is important to reflect references to the positions present in the field and to coordinate this strategically for the benefit of all.
  • Next, we concretize the idea to develop a first sketch. This draft is then edited to fit the requirements of the funding agency, with attention to preserving distinctive features in the methodological approach and thematic interest at all times.
  • The draft is further developed into a proposal (submission). In the process, the structure and budget are discussed and relationally arranged in a logical manner. At the latest, this is where important opportunities for cooperation must be considered.
  • In specific cases, we also support the organization of events that serve to communicate and define (reference) the project in the field, both in terms of content and institutional aspects.
  • Next, the project is submitted to the potential funding programs, which also requires the formal approval of the research institution, which Support Kunst und Forschung confirms on behalf of the Angewandte.
  • Upon approval of the project, the implementation will begin in coordination with the designated department in the arts and sciences as well as planning, service and administration, and, of course, with the relevant colleagues. Should the project be rejected, we provide an evaluation of the project based on the critique (reviews) and examine the possibilities for editorial revision and possible resubmission.
  • Project progress is supported, especially organizationally, with regard to working conditions (provision of workplaces, personnel matters, financial management, etc.), communication measures and research transfer, as well as reports to the funding agency.
  • By the end of the project, the projects are supported in submitting reports, including financial reports, in line with the funding requirements. In terms of content, the projects are supported to such an extent that new ideas can be generated from the results, and new projects can be devised. The end of a project always marks the beginning of a new idea.
